Fall Means Back to School
All public libraries within the Arrowhead Library System offer Gale Courses and Lynda.com video tutorials to patrons free with their local library card.
Gale Courses offers 350+ traditionally-modeled, six-week online courses in areas of professional development, technology skills, and personal development geared toward high school and adult patrons.
Lynda.com offers thousands of video tutorials taught by industry experts covering software, creative, and business skills.
The best way to promote these services is by word of mouth. If we all become familiar with the types of classes these resources offer, we can mention Gale or Lynda during our scheduled programming as additional resources, or when assisting patrons in finding or checking out library materials, it’d be great to recommend a similar course or tutorial. We’re not selling anything, these are just additional avenues to achieve goals!
Each library has been given promotional bookmarks, brochures, and posters. Please let Tovah (608-868-2872) or your library’s PR Coordinator know if you need more of any of these.

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) Coming Up
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing.
On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.
National Novel Writing Month believes in the transformational power of creativity. We provide the structure, community, and encouragement to help people find their voices, achieve creative goals, and build new worlds—on and off the page.
