Bryan McCormick elected Chairman of Council on Library and Network Development

Congratulations to Bryan McCormick, Director of Hedberg Public Library on being elected as 2017-2018 Chairman of the Council on Library and Network Development. Governor Walker appointed McCormick to the council in 2013 to advocate for public instruction and access to library services across Wisconsin. McCormick has served as Vice Chair for three years and says in the coming year the council will “…continue to improve the library experience through things like greater bandwidth, career development programs and redesigning our public library systems to be more effective and efficient throughout the state.”

Community Read Rock County

Community Read Rock County (or CRRC for short) builds community connections through reading in Rock County, Wisconsin. Annually, CRRC selects a book for reading and plans events creating spaces to examine, discuss, and explore literature together.

"Seventh Generation Earth Ethics: Native Voices of Wisconsin" has been selected as the 2017-18 Community Read. This book is comprised of 12 biographies of some of the most important figures in Native sustainability, one from each of the twelve tribes represented in Wisconsin.

"The Native people whose lives are depicted in Seventh Generation Earth Ethics understood the cultural gravity that kept their people rooted to their ancestral lands and acted in ways that ensured the growth and success of future generations. In this way they honor the Seventh Generation philosophy, which cautions decision makers to consider how their actions will affect seven generations in the future--some 240 years."
