    Fines

In applying for a library card the user agrees to handle materials properly and return them by the due date. A user or their parents may be assessed a fine on any lost or damaged materials based on the cost of repair or replacement.

    Checking Out Materials

    All CPL due dates are:

  • 3 weeks for Books and audio books.
  • 1 week for Music CDs, Magazines, Videos, DVDs.

    Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a service provided to obtain materials which are NOT available in the Clinton Public Library. Materials requested are borrowed from other libraries. Photocopies of non-circulating materials can also be acquired.

    Who May Use Interlibrary Loan?
All current Clinton Public Library cardholders who do not have overdue materials.

    How Long Does it Take?
The time taken for an interlibrary loan to arrive depends upon the difficulty of the request, how close the lending library is to Clinton, and whether the item is in at the lending library. A minimum of one to three weeks is needed to search, process, and receive each request.

There is no charge for borrowing materials. The cost of photocopies, usually 10 cents per page, must be paid by the customer.

    Loan Period
The loan period is determined by the lending library. No renewals are allowed on items borrowed unless absolutely necessary as most libraries will not extend the due date on items loaned.

    Notification
Customers will be notified by phone when the material arrives.

    Restrictions
All materials borrowed through interlibrary loan must be returned to the Clinton Public Library. Do not return items borrowed through interlibrary loan to other libraries.

Please leave the Clinton Public Library slip in the book.

When the library is closed, materials may be returned in the book drop.

Late return of materials jeopardizes the ability of the library to borrow from other libraries in the future.

Persons who have items that are overdue will not be able to check out interlibrary loan items.

    Fines
If materials are brought back past the due date the standard fine will be charged for each day an item is overdue.
