How Long Does It Take?

Plan ahead when requesting materials. The time taken for an interlibrary loan to arrive depends upon the difficulty of the request, how close the lending library is to Clinton, and whether the item is in at the lending library. A minimum of two to four weeks is needed to search, process, and receive each request.

There is no charge for borrowing materials. The cost of photocopies, usually 10 cents per page, must be paid by the customer.

Loan Period
The loan period is determined by the lending library and is usually two weeks. No renewals allowed on items borrowed unless absolutely necessary as most libraries will not extend the due date on items loaned.

Notification
Customers will be notified by phone when the material arrives. If the customer cannot be reached or a message left, or if the customer has a long distance phone number, a post card will be sent. We are not responsible for messages that were left and did not reach you.

Restrictions
All materials borrowed through interlibrary loan must be returned to the Clinton Public Library. Do not return items borrowed through interlibrary loan to other libraries for van delivery.

Please leave the blue slip in the book.

When the library is closed, materials may be returned in the bookdrop.

Late return of materials jeopardizes the ability of the library to borrow from other libraries in the future.

Persons who have items that are overdue will not be able to check out interlibrary loan items.

We cannot accept more than five requests at a time.

Fines
If materials are brought back past the due date the standard fine will be charged for each day an item is overdue.
